On Sunday, Oct. 5, Father Terrence Gordon, FSSP, of St. John the Baptist Latin Mass Community in North Little Rock, leads a rosary in front of Little Rock Family Planning Services, an abortion clinic in west Little Rock.
Vigils continue in front of Arkansas' two abortion clinics. 40 Days for Life, an ecumenical event, is being held in 179 cities across the country through Nov. 2. In Little Rock and Fayetteville, Catholics and other Christians pray and recite the rosary and other devotions for 12 hours a day.
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Father Mark Stengel, OSB, brought a group of students from Subiaco Academy to pray in the afternoon in front of the Fayetteville Women's Clinic, where abortions are performed. According to the Northwest Arkansas Times, a Fayetteville man was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault for trying to run over the academy students.
Jason Bryant Shireman was charged with the felonies after he drove his car onto the curb, nearly hitting three students. Shireman told the police he drove onto the sidewalk to show the students "what he thought about them." Shireman is expected to appear in Circuit Court on Oct. 29.
