Catholic schools pleased to stay in championships
A proposal that would have placed all Catholic schools and other private schools that provide financial aid for students in a separate category for post-season competition was defeated Aug. 4 by a vote of 114 to 93 by members of the Arkansas Activities Association.

Pocahontas school adds new seventh grade
St. Paul School in Pocahontas will include seventh-graders this fall and plans to add eighth grade next year. The change will give students another two years of Christ-centered education and maturity before they must move to the public school system. The expansion comes twenty years after the parish closed its junior and senior high schools in 1989.

New St. Edward principal: Religion should never take a backseat
St. Edward School in Little Rock is proud of its diversity. Thirty-five percent of the students are minorities, including a large number of Hispanic children who are members of the parish. There are also Asian, black, multiracial and Middle Eastern children.
