College and major: Rhodes College, international studies

Plans after college: I want to go to medical school. After school, I want to travel to remote areas all over the world and provide medical care. I would especially like to travel to places where deaths from preventable causes are high. I think that I could help these people by teaching them how to do simple things, such as deliver babies and stitch wounds.

What was the best aspect of attending your high school? The brotherhood that my class shares is definitely the best part of Catholic High. No other school in the world has a senior class as tightknit as the Catholic High Class of 2015. I have my brothers’ backs, and I know that they will always have mine.

What will you miss most about high school? I will miss having a classroom full of guys. Now I will have to go to school with girls and oh the difference that it will make. I will have to shower and brush my hair before school now. College is going to be rough.

Scholarships: I received more than $600,000 in scholarship offers. I received the Presidential Scholarship at Rhodes worth a total of $94,000.

High school honors and awards: Mu Alpha Theta, Camp Aldergate’s Volunteer of the Year in 2013, National Student Leadership Conference, treasurer of the Little Rock Mayor’s Youth Council

Catholic High School’s graduation took place May 22 on the school’s new athletic field. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor presided at the ceremony and senior Landon Laredo Loyd was the master of ceremony. Seniors John Paul Hartnedy and William Maddox Chandler were the graduation speakers.

The valedictorian is Sammie Turner James III. The salutatorian is John Christian Bauer, son of David and Dana Bauer. He will attend the University of Arkansas to study accounting.
