Nick and Kristin Ables, married in 2012, welcomed a baby girl named Siena Aug. 22. For two years, they’ve had practice sharing their faith with young people as youth ministers at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Little Rock.
“It’s almost a lifestyle,” Nick, 28, said. “It’s helped us grow closer to Christ in our marriage.”
The Ables teach about 25 students in high school and middle school.
“Last year there was a girl who was very hesitant going to confession,” at the Steubenville Youth Conference, Nick said. “This year, she was the first one and ran out the door to get to confession.”
Kristin added, “To see her grow and take ownership of her faith is incredible.”
While their family has expanded, Kristin thinks back to her time in Los Angeles as a production coordinator for television shows, including “Beyond Scared Straight,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “The Grammys” and “The Oscars.”
“I’m really happy where I’m at. The environment is so much more conducive to family life and morals,” Kristin said.
What is something not everyone knows about you?
“We didn’t tell people for a long time that we met online (on CatholicMatch.com) because we thought it was looked down upon … Now it’s funny because everyone is like, ‘It’s so cool.’” — Kristin Ables
