BROOKLYN, N.Y. (CNS) — The Diocese of Brooklyn filed a lawsuit in federal court Oct. 8 against the state of New York, charging that Gov. Andrew Cuomo's new orders reducing church capacity violates the First Amendment's guarantee of the free exercise of religion.
In 1953, my mother developed a blood clot after childbirth. While my mother lay close to death, my father went to the hospital chapel and prayed, “Not my will but thine be done.” My mother lived. I have been told that after getting married it is common to have a "honeymoon phase." This phase is a time of stupid-crazy love and joy. The newlywed couple is enamored with each other and can’t believe their luck. I’ve heard the honeymoon phase can last weeks or months, but I definitely didn’t expect to experience one after my diaconate ordination. (Columns)
