Deacon Greg Fischer

Greg Fischer, 57

Holy Rosary, Stuttgart

Assigned to: Holy Rosary, Stuttgart

Employment: Farmer

Wife: The late Mary Nina Fischer

How did you hear your calling to become a deacon? After a couple of years of trying to ignore it, God firmly put on my heart that the diaconate was my calling while I was driving a tractor in the middle of an 80-acre field. My biggest surprise though was after telling my wife her response was, "I wondered when you were going to figure that out."

What ministries are you currently involved in? RCIA

Who have been the biggest influences in your diaconate formation? Bishop-elect Erik Pohlmeier and the entire formation team, my spiritual director Msgr. Scott Friend and my pastor Father Andrew Hart. The support and encouragement from my family, the parishioners of Holy Rosary and the memory of my wife have been an invaluable asset throughout formation.
