Catholic Graduates 2013

Another school year has ended and with it, nearly 400 graduating seniors closed out a chapter of their lives, receiving their diplomas from six different Arkansas Catholic high schools.

Those schools and their respective senior class sizes are Catholic High School of Little Rock, 151; Mount St. Mary Academy of Little Rock, 118; Subiaco Academy of Subiaco, 40; St. Joseph High School of Conway, 38; Sacred Heart High School of Morrilton, 15; and St. Joseph High School of Pine Bluff, 5.

Life's hurdles inspire Morrilton girl to help others

When Melina Cambiano returned to Sacred Heart High School for her senior year, it was as if she’d never left Morrilton. Many classmates she left behind in sixth grade were still there and the school building felt so familiar she didn’t have many of the usual “new kid” issues. While Patrick Wauters is rarely at a loss for words, he doesn’t waste too many of them on himself. For Subiaco Academy senior Joseph Boltuc, “Be prepared” is both a personal and a Boy Scout motto. The Sacred Heart High School graduation was held May 19 at the church. Haley Hoelzeman and Adam Hoyt were the co-valedictorians. Adam Gottsponer, son of Danny and Cindy Gottsponer, was the salutatorian. He will be pursuing a pre-professional degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and then hopes to be accepted into dental school. Lensing Jr., a member of the Subiaco Class of 1958 and professor of English at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, spoke during the graduation at Subiaco Academy May 18 in the inner courtyard of the abbey.
