Most Rev. J. Peter Sartain, archbishop of Seattle

St. Joseph School Endowment is proud to announce, Archbishop J. Peter Sartain of Seattle will be the guest speaker at the 40th Anniversary Banquet of the St. Joseph School Endowment Sept. 14 at St.Joseph Parish Hall, 1115 College Ave, Conway, AR 72032.

Archbishop Sartain, a native of Memphis, was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Memphis in 1978. Over the next 20 years, he served the Diocese of Memphis in many different roles. Pope John Paul II appointed Archbishop Sartain bishop of Little Rock on Jan. 4, 2000. He was ordained on March 6, 2000, and took as his episcopal motto: “Of You My Heart Has Spoken” (Psalm 27:8). On May 16, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of Joliet, Ill., and on Sept. 16, 2010, archbishop of Seattle.

Archbishop Sartain has served as secretary of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and has been on the board of a number of Catholic organizations. He is the author of several books, including "Of You My Heart Has Spoken" (Arkansas Catholic, 2005); "Strengthen Your Brothers: An Archbishop’s Letters of Encouragements to His Priests" (Liturgical Press, 2012); "A Journey to the Heart of Jesus" (Our Sunday Visitor, 2014); "An Advent Pilgrimage: Preparing Our Hearts for Jesus" (Our SundayVisitor, 2014), and "A Lenten Pilgrimage:Journeying with Jesus" (Our Sunday Visitor, 2015).

In 2002 while serving the Diocese of Little Rock, Archbishop Sartain was honorary chairman along with the late Robert D. Nabholzof the first capital campaign for the St. Joseph School Endowment & Charitable Trust. These two gentlemen were both very strong believers in Catholic education and would always assist in any way they could support it.

The St. Joseph School Endowment’s 40th Anniversary Banquet is open to everyone. Tickets are $15 per person and will go on sale July 5. Call the Endowment office at (501) 329-1818 for more information.
