A portrait of St. Teresa of Kolkata adorns the lectern at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Little Rock during a feast day Mass Sept. 5.

Bishop Anthony B. Taylor celebrated the bilingual Mass before the more than 350 people, which came one day after Pope Francis canonized Mother Teresa in Rome.

Some in attendance were also on hand for Mother Teresa’s visit to Little Rock in 1982 at the invitation of Bishop Andrew J. McDonald, during which time she visited Abba House, a home for unwed mothers and their children that the Missionaries of Charity still operate. Following Mass, congregants were given the opportunity to venerate St. Teresa’s relics.
