Divine Mercy Sunday will be observed April 28 across the world and across the Diocese of Little Rock.
St. John Paul II put the devotion on the Church’s universal calendar for the Sunday after Easter.
St. Faustina Kowalska is the Polish nun who promoted the Divine Mercy devotion and was canonized by St. John Paul II in 2000. The devotion began in the late 1930s by St. Faustina, who had a vision of Jesus where he asked for devotions to divine mercy.
EWTN will air “The Original Image of Divine Mercy” Sunday, April 28 from 5-7 p.m. The program will look at the history of the original image of Divine Mercy as well as the events that led to its creation under St. Faustina’s guidance to its current place in the cathedral in Vilnius, Lithuania.
