Linstad ordained a deacon before moving to state

Deacon Richard E. Linstad, a deacon for 41 years, serving at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in Mountain Home for the past 25 years, died Sept. 30. He was 81.

He was born April 12, 1938, in Milwaukee to Raymond L. and Veronica M. Sablovitch Linstad. He married Bernice Esther Fleckowski on Nov. 15, 1958, in Stevens Point, Wis. He was a retired machinist at Navistar.

On March 4, 1978, he was ordained in the Diocese of Rockford, Ill. After moving from Carpentersville, Ill., in 1994, he served as a deacon at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in Mountain Home.

He was a member of the Fisherman Council Knights of Columbus, Polish American Social Club and the Mountain Home Elks Lodge #7353, his obituary stated.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice E. Linstad; one son, Richard Linstad Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill.; two daughters, Michelle Wallace of Evanston, Ill., and Christine Ptack of Carpentersville, Ill.; one sister, Geraldine Linstad of Park Ridge, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held Oct. 4 and a funeral Mass Oct. 5 at St. Peter the Fisherman Church. A graveside service was held Oct. 8 at River Valley Memorial Park in Dundee, Ill. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
