A statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe leads more than 500 members of St. John the Baptist and St. Mary of the Springs churches in a procession celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe Dec. 12 in Hot Springs.
The day’s events included a 5 a.m. service and 6 a.m. Mass. The afternoon procession ended at St. John Church where a second Mass was held. After the Mass, dinner was served with a play depicting Mary’s appearance before St. Juan Diego. Mary was played by Valerio Salazar and St. Juan Diego was played by Jorge Melendez.
It was the first time since 2004 that a procession was held between the two Hot Springs churches.
