Spiritan Center blessed

Published April 20, 2018

More than 600 people turned out April 11 for the dedication of the 42,000-square-foot multi-purpose building at St. Joseph Church and School in Conway. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor blessed the facility known as The Spiritan Center. It was named for the Holy Ghost Fathers, who first established the parish in 1879.

Ground was broken for the building’s construction in April 2017. Its expected completion date will be in June. The structure will serve as a parish hall and cafeteria and includes seven classrooms, an auditorium and stage, meeting rooms and office space for parish staff and school personnel.

A meal was served in the old parish hall where a silent auction was conducted. The items put up for bid were remnants of the former Spiritan Hall that was demolished last year to make room for the new facility.
