The family of Leroy V. Anderle of Windthorst, Texas, presented Anderle’s Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus chalice to Bishop Anthony B. Taylor Dec. 23.
Anderle, who died Nov. 3, was a member of Assembly #1117. As a personal gesture, the fraternal organization gives a chalice in memory of the deceased member. The family can then choose to give the chalice to a local priest, bishop or missionary. Anderle’s name was engraved on the chalice.
Roy Anderle, a member of St. Agnes Church in Mena and state deputy of the Knights of Columbus, said the family made the decision to present the chalice to the bishop.
Bishop Taylor celebrated Mass with vicar general and vocations director Msgr. Scott Friend and Father Patrick Friend in Little Rock. Twenty-three members of the Anderle family were in attendance.
