The Spring 40 Days for Life kickoff event was held March 3 in front of the abortion clinic in Little Rock. About 50 people from several faith communities attended. Father Paul Worm, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Benton, opened the event with a prayer for the unborn, followed by contemporary praise music.
A young woman, Heather, spoke of her experience when she became pregnant at 16 and came to the Little Rock abortion facility. While being prepped for the procedure she remembered a Scripture her stepmother taught her as a child and she decided she could not go through with the procedure. She left the clinic and told her parents of her predicament and they assured her of their support and love for her and her baby. Heather brought her 2-year-old child with her to the kickoff event.
The main speaker was Chris Love, pastor of Amazing Grace Church in Little Rock, who spoke about the dignity of all life from conception to natural death.
The Spring 40 Days for Life campaign is led by Tabitha Connolly from Christ the King Church in Little Rock and Toni Blackwell from Geyer Springs Baptist Church, also in Little Rock. Anyone interested in participating in the vigil, which continues through April 14 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., can visit 40days forlife.com/littlerock or call Connolly at (501) 960-2194.
