In celebration of the 40th anniversary of its founding, Good Shepherd Community in Little Rock plans to develop Bishops-gate Park, an outdoor area on its grounds where residents and visitors can go for prayer and reflection. The centerpiece of the site will be a 30-foot cross donated to Good Shepherd Community by ACCESS Group. The cross was originally installed at First Christian Church on Mississippi Street in the early 1960s. ACCESS purchased the property from the church in 2016. The property is now ACCESS Academy and Evaluation Resource Center.
Good Shepherd Community will dedicate the park to the founding bishops of Arkansas’ Catholic, Episcopal, Presbyterian and United Methodist churches who first conceived Good Shepherd Community’s mission of providing an innovative way to fill the need for affordable, not-for-profit housing options for local seniors.
The cross was delivered to Good Shepherd Community March 28.
