Eileen Freeman, the sixth-eighth grade teacher at St. Joseph School in Paris, was named Teacher of the Year by the Western Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative. Freeman was selected from more than 7,000 teachers in the area served by the cooperative. Dr. Curtis Varnell, the cooperative’s science and social studies specialist, made the presentation in front of a packed house May 15 during the annual Spring Fling performance at the school. Freeman has been a teacher at St. Joseph School since 1995. Her students are strong contenders in STEM and robotics competitions, competing this school year in both the regional and state robotics contests.
