Sara Jones was named the new principal for Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock Sept. 12 after serving in the position on an interim basis since Aug. 1. Jones has been active in Catholic education in Arkansas for 15 years. She previously taught at St. Theresa School in Little Rock and had served as the assistant principal at Mount St. Mary Academy since 2015.
“During her four-year tenure at Mount St. Mary Academy, Mrs. Jones has shown exceptional leadership skills and exemplified our Mercy values so vital for this important role,” Dr. Pattie Davis, president of Mount St. Mary Academy, said. “I am confident her dedication to Mount St. Mary and commitment to Catholic education will continue to be an asset as we fulfill our mission to prepare students to meet the future with wisdom, compassion and integrity.”
In regard to her new position as principal, Jones said, “I adore the MSM community and am truly honored to be allowed to serve in the continuation of her mission and vision.”
Jones earned a master’s degree in teaching and an educational specialist degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Jones and her husband, Larry, are members of St. Theresa Church in Little Rock. Their son, Adam, is a seventh grader at Our Lady of the Holy Souls School.
