Trinity Junior High School in Fort Smith had stellar results when its students competed in state and regional competitions in January.
The Quiz Bowl team placed first in the 4A Regional AGQBA Tournament Jan. 18 and competed in the state tournament in Beebe Feb. 8 where they placed third. Eighth grader Will Thomas earned a spot on the All-Tournament team. In addition to Thomas, the varsity Quiz Bowl team members are Cesar Palafox (captain), Mora Boyd, Alan Calvillo, Stephen Lu, Marcos Manjarrez, Vashon Nguyen, Abraham Rodriguez, Asher Rowe and Jack Thomas.
The science bowl team placed first in the Arkansas/Louisiana Regional Middle School Science Bowl tournament Jan. 25 at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Trinity will next be competing at the Department of Energy-sponsored National Middle School Science Bowl competition in Washington, D.C., April 30-May 4. Trinity‘s science team members are Will Thomas (captain), Marcos Manjarrez, Asher Rowe, Alan Calvillo and Jack Thomas.
