Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock celebrated its Founders Day and Sophomore Pin Mass Feb. 5.
As part of the celebration, the Angelus Bell was rung by senior student council members 169 times to honor 169 years since the Sisters of Mercy founded the academy. Bishop Andrew Byrne, the state’s first bishop who requested the sisters open the school in 1851, gave the bell to the school.
After the all-school Mass, sophomores were given their Mercy pins, which remind them to live the Mercy values.
