COVID clinic in Jonesboro

Published November 24, 2020

St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro opened its new COVID clinic Nov. 20, serving as a COVID-19 follow-up clinic and treatment infusion center as well as preparation for distributing the COVID-19 vaccine.

The clinic will begin its first medication infusions with the monoclonal antibody, Bamlanivimab, which received Emergency Use Authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Nov. 9. St. Bernards received its first Bamlanivimab doses last week.

Connie Hill, vice president of HeartCare Center, Cancer Center and perioperative services, said, “Monoclonal antibodies show their greatest effectiveness early in infections. Our ability to infuse Bamlanivimab in an isolated and safe environment holds particular promise for immune-compromised and vulnerable populations.”

St. Bernards will also participate in Operation Warp Speed for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. Beyond infusions, the new clinic will also handle follow-up care for recovering COVID-19 patients discharged from St. Bernards Medical Center. The clinic will not screen or test for COVID-19.
