Six of the 13 seniors and instructors who received the Stephens Award this spring came from Little Rock Catholic high schools. The Stephens Award from the City Education Trust provided $5,000 scholarships to the students and $5,800 cash awards to the instructors.

They are:

  • Sydney England, Mount St. Mary Academy, daughter of Tracy and Lane England
  • Chad Greenway, Catholic High School, son of Kari and Chad Greenway
  • Jackson Smith, Catholic High School, son of Jessica and David Smith
  • Matthew Golladay, Catholic High School, director of bands and music teacher
  • David Massery, Catholic High School, social studies and economics teacher
  • Capt. Scott Pursley, Mount St. Mary Academy, science teacher

Recipients were honored during a ceremony and reception April 18 at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce AT&T Auditorium.

“I was surprised, then pleased and finally humbled after I heard the news,” said Pursley, who is in his first year teaching at MSM. “I am grateful that I have a small role in Mount St. Mary Academy’s excellent learning community.”
