Bishop Emeritus Andrew J. McDonald is one of about 85 residents who call St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly in Palatine, Ill., home. For the past 10 years, the bishop has served as its chaplain. His day centers on prayer, preparing his homily and celebrating daily Mass for the residents. Occasionally he will be asked to provide the anointing of the sick or celebrate a funeral Mass.
