Betty Petrus and other St. Joseph's meatball rollers prepare for Spaghetti Supper in Pine Bluff.

Mark your calendar now for St. Joseph’s annual Spaghetti Supper. The first week of October has featured this Pine Bluff Italian cuisine since the 1920s.  People come from near and far for the authentic Italian meatballs with hand snipped parsley and many secret ingredients.

Carry-out orders, chaired by Connie Boutwell, will be available on both Tuesday, Oct. 2, and Thursday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church located at 412 West 6th Avenue in Pine Bluff.  For five or more take-out orders, call the parish office at (870) 534-4701.

According to a spokesman, “Friends and families may enjoy seated St. Joseph Spaghetti Suppers on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and Thursday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., in Gallagher Hall.”

After chopping garlic and onions for the secret recipe, parishioners have rolled thousands of meatballs for the annual Spaghetti Supper.  Procurement chairman, Mike Lambert, and meatball chairman, Pat Anderson, have kept workers supplied with ingredients.

Additional Spaghetti Supper chairmen include Sauce - Richard Burleigh and Tim Boutwell; Slaw - Mary Miskell; Bread - Gordon and Judy Reese; Onions - Emma LaFitte; Ticket Sales – Angelique Ford; Gallagher Hall take-out orders– Bonnie Coody; Clean-up – Kevin Osweiler, and Publicity – Mary Ann Kizer.

Italian descendants of immigrants, who sailed the seas to farmland in Jefferson County, have been joined by immigrants from many other states, the Philippines and Indonesia to work on the Spaghetti Supper.

Ticket prices are adults $12 and children $7.  Tickets may be purchased in advance from any parish member or at the church office. Tickets will be available at the doors for carry-outs or dine-in suppers. For additional information, call St. Joseph Church office at (870) 534-4701.
