Gloria Mae Bujarski Uhiren, 91, of Carlisle, was born June 26, 1927 and died Sept. 14.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Emma (Keller) Bujarski; her husband of 41 years, William (Bill) Uhiren; infant son; brother, Norvell Bujarski and sister Marie Collins. Gloria is survived by her four children, Debby Welch (Bill) of Bentonville; Peggy Moody (Curt) of Carlisle; Fred Uhiren (Rhonda) of Hazen, Joan Woodruff of Little Rock and her sister, Charlotte Halter of North Little Rock.  She had eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: two boys and seven girls and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Gloria was born in Little Rock. She lived her first three years in Levy, and then resided on Main Street in North Little Rock across from North Little Rock Old Main High School. Gloria attended St. Patrick School in North Little Rock and graduated from Mount St. Mary High School in Little Rock at the age of 16. She was a member of the Nu Phi Mu sorority. At the age of six, she began working at the family sandwich shop, Frank's Place, next to their home.  She was a businesswoman in Little Rock until she married her love of her life, husband, Bill. She and Bill farmed in Prairie County. They moved to Carlisle in 1964.

Gloria loved to dance. She served as president of Carlisle Schools Parent Teacher Association and as president of St. Rose of Lima Church Altar Society and was a member of Farm Bureau. With her bookwork experience and Bill's farming skills, they had a very successful farming operation. She loved the Catholic Church and attended daily Mass as often as she could. She prayed the rosary daily and had a strong belief in St. Anthony of Padua, patron saint of the return of lost articles, and was a faithful attendee at First Friday Services.  The family has many people to thank but offer special gratitude to Chambers Nursing Home Center, Baptist Hospital at Springhill, and Dr. Kenneth Sauer and a special thanks to five grandchildren, Katy, Chris, Wendy, William, and Drew.  Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, P.O. Box M, Carlisle, Arkansas 72024 or St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church Cemetery in Slovak.

Rosary was held Sunday, Sept. 16 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Carlisle. Burial will be in the Slovak Catholic Cemetery.
