Catholic Daughters of St. Joseph Church in Pine Bluff hosted the annual Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 6. Deacon Noel "Bud" Bryant conducted the prayer service and then blessed each animal individually. Four dogs, two cats, three chickens and one duck were blessed. Seventeen individuals were present for the service.
St. Francis holy cards and medals were available for those attending. Cathy Lewis won the pumpkin jar full of dog treats by guessing the number of treats in it. David Nanak's name was drawn for the St. Francis statue. Cody Thornton and Margie Nanak's names were drawn for 'I Love My Pet' mugs. Refreshments were served after the service for the animals and those individuals attending.
Angelique Ford, Deb York, Trudy Pascale, Judy Reese, Wendy Ruggeri and Gretchen Zell were the Catholic Daughters providing refreshments and/or assisting at the event.
