Katia Rubio, St. Albert parishioner in Heber Springs, recently received the wonderful news she'd been selected as a Rockhurst University Trustee Scholar. This is the highest academic merit scholarship awarded by the Jesuit, liberal arts university in the heart of Kansas City, Mo.
One of 100 applicants, Katia participated in multiple rounds of face-to-face interviews with professors and university staff, highlighting applicants' leadership and service endeavors, as well as their academic performance in high school. Katia was only one of four applicants from outside the Kansas City area to participate in the interview process. The scholarship covers 100 percent of her tuition for the four years she will be studying biomedical engineering.
