Gene Black, 47, of Corning, died April 20 at Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro. Mr. Black was born on February 29, 1976, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Gene loved spending time with his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, making jerky and engaging in charity work. He majored in chemistry at Arkansas State University and graduated with two degrees.
Survivors include his siblings Mark O. Black (Christie), Julie F. Black, Jennifer S. Black (Ibrahim), Janice L. Patton and Michael J. Black (Haley); several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents John G. and Frances S. (Zepecki) Black.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church, 800 S. 11th St., Corning, AR 72422.
Rosary service will be held Saturday, May 6 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Corning. Visitation will follow the rosary service at noon with the funeral Mass to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery.
