Goal after college: To attend graduate school to become the best of the best

What was the best aspect of attending your high school? The best part of attending Subiaco Academy was the close-knit community: living right across the hall from my friends, the volleyball games at night and the loud student cheering section at home games.

What will you miss most about high school? I will most miss late night volleyball games with my friends and the joy of seeing them after each break.

Scholarships: Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship, Hendrix Academic Scholarship, Hendrix Leadership Scholarship and the Odyssey Distinction Award

High school honors and awards: Martin Schriver Award, President’s Education Award, National Honor Society, Blue Arrow, Premio de Oro in Spanish I and II

Dr. George S. Lensing Jr., a member of the Subiaco Class of 1958 and professor of English at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, spoke during the graduation at Subiaco Academy May 18 in the inner courtyard of the abbey.

The valedictorian was Matthew Tran and the salutatorian was Patrick Leavey. Leavey, son of Dr. Patrick Leavey and Dr. Vivian Roche-Leavey, plans to study pre-medicine at Rhodes College.
