  • Subiaco students stay busy after class
    As a boarding school and home to students during the school year, the school day officially ends with the last class period at Subiaco Academy, but like any normal home, there are chores and after-school activities keeping the students busy at the college-preparatory boarding and day school.

    FORT SMITH -- When Marcie Mask went to Mass at Christ the King Church last October, she found the answer to a prayer. Mask had been looking for a project that would unify her 105 seventh-grade religion students, who had come to Trinity Junior High School from three different feeder schools -- Immaculate Conception, Christ the King and St. Boniface.

    Parents of school-age children are very concerned if their child is attending a school that will provide their child with the highest quality of education. They want to know how their school ranks in academics and, far too often, just how does the school rank in test scores.

  • Latin lessons liven up English class at West Memphis school
    Students at St. Michael School in West Memphis have been getting a little assistance in learning English from their principal, Michael Beauregard, through Latin.

  • A caroling surprise
    About 110 fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students from St. Joseph School in Conway surprised their principal, Susie Freyaldenhoven, by showing up on her front lawn in their pajamas to serenade her Dec. 18.

  • Schools hold special Masses, parties, events for CSW
    “Catholic Schools: Dividends for Life” is the theme selected for Catholic Schools Week. Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration that focuses attention on the good work done by the nation’s Catholic schools. The week will be observed Jan. 31 to Feb. 6. To mark the week, schools are hosting a variety of special events.
