On Sept. 22, as part of Arkansas Peace Week, Pax Christi Little Rock sponsored a Walk for Peace at Rockefeller Elementary School.
The entire school, students and teachers clapped, sang, marched and danced for peace. Several students carried signs. The students wore peace buttons and necklaces donated by Pax Christi. The students had been learning about peace throughout the week, engaging in journaling, drawing peace pictures, fundraising for the Red Cross and learning about conflict resolution. Rockefeller’s participation in Peace Week culminated in an invitation to visit Central High during the 60th anniversary of the 1957 integration crisis.
