Father Harvey 30th jubilee

Published July 19, 2018

Father Warren Harvey, a 1972 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Conway, celebrated his 30th jubilee July 7 at St. Joseph Church. When he was ordained in May 1988 he became the first black Catholic priest in the diocese.

Many of Father Harvey’s relatives and friends attended Mass, including his nephew, Father Jeffrey Harvey, CM, who delivered the homily. Pastor Father Tony Robbins and Deacon David Westmoreland were also on the altar. Westmoreland had been with Father Harvey 30 years ago when he said his first Mass after being ordained.

After the Mass, a pulled pork dinner was served in the Spiritan Center in Father Harvey’s honor. He currently serves as assistant minister to priests with the Diocesan Office of Continuing Education of the Clergy. He’s also Bishop Anthony B. Taylor’s liaison with the Diocesan Council for Black Catholics and a chaplain at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
