Marie Therese Lehigh dies

Marie Thérèse Lehigh of Maumelle died March 30 at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Maumelle at the age of 91.

She was born January 9, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late John and Loretta Martin of Philadelphia, PA. She was a retired Arkansas Teacher having taught in 1st and Pre-K in the El Dorado Schools before becoming a principal of Holy Redeemer School in El Dorado. While raising her family & teaching, she earned her Master’s in Education. She was a member of Holy Cross Church serving as a music minister, choir director and organist for many years. She was also a Eucharistic Minister, a P.R.E. teacher, a Parish Council member and secretary, an R.C.I.A. Director and President of the Altar Society.

Mrs. Lehigh was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Charles H. Lehigh and brothers John Martin, Joe Martin, Paul Martin and a sister Ann Martin.

She is survived by her children: Hugh Lehigh of Grand Rapids, MI, Janie (Randall) Carey of Grapevine, Jeffrey (DeAnn) Lehigh of Hensley, Kurt (Regina) Lehigh of Maumelle, Michèle (Randall) Perry of Maumelle, Eric (Wendy) Lehigh of Conway, Bruce (Patti) Lehigh of Cordova, TN, and Loretta (Bill) Rech of Little Rock; 2 sisters: Clare (Les) McCarthy of Perkasie, PA and Loretta (Jim) Brown of Naples, FL;  11 grandchildren: Matthew Carey, Christopher Carey, Kelly Lehigh, Kathleen Lehigh, Travis Lehigh, John Lehigh, Brian Lehigh, Sarah Rech, Charles Lehigh, Anna Lehigh and Cecelia Rech and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Graveside service will be private at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Sheridan on April 04, 2020.
