Why I am becoming Catholic: Kerri Palmer

"Last year, my family was at an impasse regarding our spiritual life. We were Episcopalian, but for the last 16 years, we felt a guiding force pulling us to the Catholic Church. I spoke with a friend who was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and she offered to sponsor us on our journey through RCIA. That same weekend, my mother informed me that she and my dad, unbeknownst to us, had also made the decision to attend RCIA at St. Jude Church. My mother is a Christian, but was what I called 'un-churched' until last August. My father, who turned 84 last month, always talked of joining the Church, but never would. They have not missed Mass since they made their decision -- they even went while on vacation. That never happened before. Three generations of my family will be confirmed and receive first Communion on March 22, which just happens to be our youngest son's seventh birthday as well."
