Why I am becoming Catholic: Ragen Jennings

Published: March 22, 2008

After Ragen Jennings moved back to Fort Smith from England with her husband Shane and children last April, the family looked for a home church. They lived a few blocks from Christ the King Church. Although she had been raised as a Southern Baptist, her father had been raised Catholic, and all her father's relatives were Catholic. "I had always been interested in Catholicism because it was a huge part of my family heritage," Jennings said. In visiting Christ the King Church, she found a welcoming faith community. Jennings' four home-schooled sons, ranging in age from 3 to 8, were baptized last fall. Her daughter, Eva-Amelia, 8 months, will be baptized when her godparents come to visit. She is looking forward to joining the Church at the Easter Vigil, and has already begun volunteering at PRE Preschool each Sunday.
