A caroling surprise

Published: January 30, 2010

About 110 fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students from St. Joseph School in Conway surprised their principal, Susie Freyaldenhoven, by showing up on her front lawn in their pajamas to serenade her Dec. 18.

Music teacher Jennifer Hui and other faculty members planned the surprise visit after Freyaldenhoven's kidney transplant surgery required her to be away from school for several months. The students sang several carols along with an original composition created especially to honor their principal.

Freyaldenhoven is scheduled to return to school in February.
