Katia Rubio, a parishioner at St. Albert Church in Heber Springs, was selected as a Rockhurst University Trustee Scholar. It is the highest academic merit scholarship from the Jesuit University in Kansas City, Mo. One of 100 applicants, Rubio participated in multiple rounds of face-to-face interviews with professors and university staff, highlighting applicants’ leadership and service endeavors, as well as their academic performance in high school. The scholarship covers her tuition for the four years she will be studying biomedical engineering.
